RCPC Preschool has been in serving young children for 29 years. The preschool staff of twelve teachers and five aides strive to provide a nurturing weekday ministry to preschool age children of our church and community.
In Fall 2008, Raleigh Court Presbyterian Preschool was very excited to take part in the Virginia Star Quality Initiative through the Smart Beginnings Program that is sponsored by the United Way. This program involves a quality rating and improvement system that assesses, communicates and supports quality in early childhood settings. Why Does Quality Matter? Information for Parents About Our School
We offer a variety of classes for children ranging in age from 12 months to five years. We offer Early Risers to be dropped off at 8:30 AM for an additional charge. Our optional Lunch Bunch program provides parents an extra hour on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays while students enjoy a packed lunch and extra playtime with friends.
Exclusive to our school is the on-site Melody Makers program. This innovative, dynamic music program is available after school on Wednesdays.
Our students also enjoy several special opportunities to enhance their preschool experience. Students attend chapel, Spanish class, library, a music program and creative movement. We also provide a variety of field trip experiences.
Each Summer we have three summer camps available to students. Each themed camp is a week long and runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Our Classes
Prepared Pre-Kindergarteners:
Our pre-kindergarteners prepare for kindergarten all year! Addresses, birthdays, phone numbers, months, days of the week, name and letter recognition, and beginning phonics are just a few of the things your child will learn! These classes go on a variety of field trips, experiment with basic science, and incorporate new experiences into the learning environment, all while developing the social readiness that is crucial to kindergarten success. These children attend our Music program, Creative movement, Chapel Time, Spanish and visit the Children's Library each week to check out a book to take home. Children must turn 4 years of age by September 30. Class meets Monday - Friday.
Fantastic Fours:
Our fours have fun, fun, fun! These adventurous four-year-olds will work on letters and numbers, beginning phonics, play fun games, and read great books! Of course, they will also be running, jumping, building their social skills and just playing! They attend our Music program, Creative movement, Chapel Time, Spanish, and visit the Children's Library each week to check out a book to take home. Children must be 4 years by January 31. Class meets Monday - Friday.
Theatrical Threes:
Three is a great age! Your active three-year-old will explore the world around by learning about letters, discussing the weather, exploring simple science concepts, arts and crafts, and of course, lots of play! Their imaginations will soar, social relationships will strengthen, language skills will flourish, all while having fun. Our three-year-olds will attend our Music program, Creative Movement, Chapel Time, Spanish and visit the Children's Library each week to check out a book to take home. Children must turn 3 years by September 30. The five-day class meets Monday - Friday. The three-day class meets Monday - Wednesday. The two-day class meets Thursday and Friday.
Terrific Twos:
Being two is terrific at our school! In this class, your child will learn basic classroom essentials like taking turns and being part of a group. They do fun crafts, learn nursery rhymes, shapes and colors, and read many books. They attend the Music class, Creative Movement, Chapel Time, the Children's Library, and Spanish class. The children must turn 2 years by September 30. The five-day class meets Monday - Friday. The three-day class meets Monday - Wednesday. The two-day class meets Thursday and Friday.
Magnificent Mother's Morning Out:
They may be little, but they can sure do a lot! This class will help your little ones with their first experience away from home. They will sing songs, read books, play games and do crafts especially designed for little hands. We welcome ages 12 months and up. Classes are available each weekday, based on availability.
