Need a Ride to Church?

NEWS FLASH!!!

Our "Taxi Service"  was initiated June 21, 2009.

We now have about a dozen drivers available. The telephone number for the service is 540/589-5189. Anyone needing a ride should call between 8:30 am and 9:30 am Sunday morning.  The phone will probably be turned OFF after 9:30 so our drivers won't be missing any of the worship service

Andy Corbin asks that the "Taxi Service" be more of a "last resort". 

"We have limited resources for this service at this time, Andy says, "and if folks have other means, such as a neighbor,  family, facility bus (such as Brandon Oaks), they should use that, but if there are no other means,  we are here to help.

"I will serve as the driver on our inaugural run, more so I can make certain there are no problems.  If there are problems then I can deal with them before asking others to serve.  I want to make this ministry as easy on those serving as possible."

Drivers will be rotated on a monthly schedule similar to that for ushers. The service will stop accepting requests for rides 30 minutes before the Worship service is to begin to give give the drivers and dispatcher an opportunity to attend morning worship service.

• Drivers should be 18 years of age or older and have a valid drivers license.

• Cars should be in good running condition and reasonably clean inside.

• Cars should be properly insured.

• Drivers should have a reasonable knowledge of the local area but maps will be provided.

• It is preferred but not required that drivers have cell phones in case the need to be contacted while on a trip.

• Four door vehicles are PREFERRED (ease of getting in and out for those with any physical issues or picking up more than one rider) but NOT required.

People needing rides can live up to a 20 minute trip (one way) from RCPC. Beyond that they will be evaluated on a case by case basis.  There is a sign up sheet in the Gathering area for your name and contact information. Once we have a pool of folks willing to help, we will assign Sundays and get the program up and running. For more information, contact Andy Corbin.
