Day 19 - Wednesday, March 23

RCPC Greatest Hit from Lois and George Pollash in 1985

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. - John 14:27

Within his time, Jesus spoke against the destruction and violence, the strife and contention, the wicked rulers oppressing the weak. We witness that and similar happenings--famine, racism, wars and rumors of wars. We see examples of disregard for those in poverty, without legal recourse, without friend or home.

We hear the drum beat that security lies in better and more accurately destructive weapons for us and our “allies”. Where is the peace, the justice? It is according to God’s plan - “for still the vision awaits its time, it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not delay.” – Habakkuk 2:3

The peace of green pasture, the Good Shepherd, the spring which follows a cold stormy winter, the peace and justice … we must give and provide for those poor in body and spirit. It is mandated, for our strength, our security, our salvation is not of this world. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives, do I give to you.”

Our Heavenly Father, we pray for your peace which passes all understanding to help us walk in the way of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
