Isaiah 5:20
"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”
This scripture is profoundly important in this day in age, where the "truth" is now instead of a cultural agreement but now "truth" has become personal. I could go down the political route but instead today I'm going to talk about something close to my heart, Prosperity Gospel.
I think Dante needs to add another level of hell for these pastors that peddle this dangerous and evil doctrine. I have had family members fall into this trap, for those of you not initiated into this the basic gist is " The more money you give to "God" the more he will bless you with money" Now I put God in paresthesias because this money doesn't really go to God or the church or the needy people of the world but to the pockets of the Pastor.
These pastors use any means necessary to convince their flock to donate as much as they can, in hopes of future reward. It's almost to the level of Medieval Indulgences.
Unlike the Presbyterian church where everything is out in the open all prosperity gospel churches operate with opaque budgets. We would all know something is up if Pastor Andrew started making $4,000,000 a year and kept asking for more so he could buy another Jet.
The true evil here is that it hurts people who need help the most, people donating their last dollar to some sweet-talking preacher in hopes of some miracle money. True wolves in sheep's clothing.
So, beware of the lure of earthly wealth from the lips of a pastor, life is tough, and we should receive spiritual comfort and help from the church, it’s not a financial vehicle.
