This is the month of F’s!!! While we always have FUN, we also started the month with a FLU Vaccine Clinic and a visit from FIREFIGHTERS and FIRETRUCKS from Ladder #7. The Roanoke City Health Department administered 75 FLU vaccines to preschool students/staff and families. The FIREFIGHTERS spoke to the children about fire prevention and showed them all of the gear they need to put on before going into a fire. Then things got really interesting when they got a 911 call during their visit with us, so we got to witness some of the preparation and excitement of them rushing off to help someone! Fortunately, it was a false alarm, and they returned soon after to finish their presentation.
In keeping with the F theme, we will be ending our month with RCPC Youth’s Annual FALL FESTIVAL on Sunday, October 27 at 5:30 PM. The preschool will again be raffling off themed baskets with items donated from our preschool families and the community. Each basket contains items and gift cards ranging in value from $75 up to over $600. Some examples of the basket themes are Arts and Crafts, Family Movie Night, Chocolate and Coffee, and Downtown Day Out. We also have two destination packages this year: a 2-night stay at Bernard’s Landing at Smith Mountain Lake and a 3-night stay at Snowshoe resort. Gift cards to local restaurants and activities include (but are not limited to) Fortunatos, Blue Cow, The Green Goat, The Village Grill, Scratch Biscuit Company, The Grandin Theater, Launching Pad, and many more! Overall, we have over 20 baskets to raffle off, so there are many opportunities to be a winner. Be on the lookout for opportunities to buy raffle tickets. The baskets will be displayed on Sunday, October 20 and 27 before and after the 11:00 AM services, as well as at the Fellowship Dinner on the 23. Raffle ticket order forms are available at the reception area which will include pictures and details of what is in each basket. Tickets are $1/for 1, or $10 for 12.
